Dr. Antonia Schmalz

Antonia is a physicist, co-initiator and today the technical managing director of Pulsed Light Technologies GmbH.

Driven by the idea of being able to cover future energy requirements on a large scale in a cost-effective and climate-friendly manner, she has already helped shape and drive the project forward from within SPRIND. Pulsed Light Technologies GmbH was founded in August 2023 with the aim of building two different laser systems in up to five years and proving their functionality with the help of demonstrators. An ambitious goal that can only be achieved together with highly talented scientists and engineers and the expertise of two successful start-ups and other important cooperation partners. Milestone-oriented work programs are designed, work packages are put out to tender and German research and the optical industry are involved in project development at an early stage. The aim is not only to develop lasers for laser-induced fusion and other types of use, but also to have all partners in a potential new industry, fusion, on board today.

One of Antonia's central tasks is to draw attention to the topic of laser-induced fusion, forge alliances and use existing funds as efficiently as possible to maximize the benefits of the project.
